THE ARTIST

Rafael's work is deeply personal and instinctive rather than academic.

His drawings and paintings explore memory, childhood, vulnerability, affection, loneliness, imagination and the way emotions are often preserved long after the moments that created them have disappeared.

Childhood is a recurring territory in his work — not simply as nostalgia, but as a place where emotions existed before we learned how to hide, rationalize or explain them.

Children, ordinary objects, fragments of memory, imperfect lines and sudden areas of color become ways of returning to those emotions through an adult perspective.

His work often exists somewhere between innocence and experience, absence and affection, humor and melancholy.

Rather than explaining every image, Rafael allows the viewer to recognize something of their own story inside it.

The imperfections, the textures, the unfinished lines — they stay. They are part of the truth of each piece.

Each RAFAELGUIM edition is limited to 300 signed and numbered copies, printed on 300 gsm coated paper and delivered with a Certificate of Authenticity.
