About Me

Rafael Guimarães is a Brazilian artist, entrepreneur and English teacher based in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Son of a judge and a mother who is both a journalist and lawyer, and grandson of renowned pioneering watercolor artist Nathaniel Guimarães, Rafael grew up surrounded by different forms of observation, language and expression.

That creative inheritance appears in work that is deeply personal rather than academic. His drawings and paintings explore memory, childhood, vulnerability, affection, loneliness, imagination and the way emotions are often preserved long after the moments that created them have disappeared.

Childhood is a recurring territory in his work — not necessarily as nostalgia, but as a place where emotions were simpler, stronger and sometimes easier to recognize. Figures, objects, colours and unfinished gestures become ways of revisiting those feelings through an adult perspective.

Alongside his artistic practice, Rafael is an English teacher and has a background in business, marketing and entrepreneurship. His work moves naturally between creativity, communication and human connection.

Rafael is engaged to Sabrina, and together they actively participate in projects and initiatives focused on social inclusion — not only through financial support, but also through accessibility, education and creating opportunities for everyone to participate.
